Night School: The Mika Book.

Yet another story I have conjured up. Enjoy!

CHAPTER 1

"Please show me your Night Pass." The Nightkeeper ordered. I pulled the small pass out of my jean pocket. The Nightkeeper waved me by. I manuevered my way through the crowded hallways of the Nightschool. Finally I found my locker. My Astral popped out of my backpack and looked up at me. "Hi, girl." I said. I handed my Astal an iced cookie. The ghost-like being devoured it in seconds. My first class for the day was Weirn studies. In case you didn't know, Weirns are a specific type of witch. We are born with a demon guardian- the Astral. It stays with teir Weirn for life and protect them and such. Me and my Astral are best friends to the end. I even named mine: Icy the Astal. Because she loves iced cookies, see.
"Yo, Mika." I turned around swiftly. Cassidy stood behind me, a broad friendly smile on his face. Cassidy seemed to have grown taller than I had last seen him. He had spiky red hair and as many freckles on his face as there are stars in the sky. He adjusted his glasses carefully. I shut my locker and walked Cassidy to his class. Vampire Biology class, that is. This is strange because Cassidy is a human. The students in our school range from Vampires to Weirns to Demons to Werewolves to humans. Yes. Our school is quite different to any school you go to.
"It's weird that you want to take a Vampire class. Why not take regular biology?" I asked, curious. Cassidy shrugged. "I'm a smart kid." He said. "I need some variety in my life, you know?" I chuckled. "Oh, I know. I have Mr. Roi for Weirn studies remember?" Cass nodded. "Yeah. That crazy old guy who accidentally blew up his lab during some spell? Yeah. I remember him."
"He is a hazard to himself and other children. He definately picked the right job." Me and Cassidy laughed. We had been friends since we could walk. Ever since my dad left me, my mom and my sister, Cass was there to cheer me up. I never told him about it, though. I didn't want to upset him any more than it upset me. We stopped at his Vampre biology class. "See you later, okay?" He nodded. I gave him a little hug and he literally ducked into his class to keep from whacking his head on the door frame. I heard the warning bell in the background. Shoot! I ran as fast as I could up two flights of stairs three hallways and one kid I accidentally knocked over. (He's fine.) I swung open the door and plopped into my chair. BRIIING! Just in time. Mr. Roi was a man in his early forties or late thirties. He taught advanced Weirn studies here in the Nightschool. He can be a pretty cool guy... you know, if he doesn't set anybody on fire that is. Mr. Roi looked up from his book and took attendance.
"Hey, you." A familiar voice called next to me. Having a Demon friend like Tabai had to be the best thing ever. Tabai was very popular and super-cute. she had long brown hair, red eyes and the best horns ever! She was also very talented. An amazing dancer and artist. "Alright, settle down class." Mr. Roi called to the class. "Today, we are going to learn the history of the Astral." Icy, as if on cue, popped out and spun around, then posed as if to say "That's me!"
"Now, let's turn to chapter 5 in your spellbooks..."
"What in the heck do you think you're doing?" Cassidy froze, paying attention to his surroundings. years of intense training have taught him to always look up first. Up on top of a locker was Teresa. Her long dark hair in a braid and her brown eyes narrowed. "Um... going to my next class?" Cass offered. Reese leaped of the locker and stood in front of him, getting in his face. "Oh, stop playing dumb. You know what I mean. You're making friends with that Weirn girl, aren't you?" Cassidy gulped. How did she know? "Look, it's nothing to worry about. Mika's a good kid. She wouldn't hur-"
"I knew this was a bad idea!" Reese groaned, exasperated. "Teacher didn't send us to this puke-hole so you could become Prom King, Cass! We have a job to do!" Cass sighed. "Yes, Reese. I know that. Chill out. I'll keep my eye out for her. If anything seems threatening, I'll take care of it, okay?" Reese huffed and stormed off. "Don't try to be a lover boy!" She yelled. Cassidy shook his head. Classic Teresa. Always so hot-headed and tense. Well, she was a Hunter after all. So was he.

CHAPTER 2
Not many things leave me in hopeless tears, but this certainly did. As soon as I stepped in, I could see a large crowd of students and some crime scene tape. A forensics team stormed into the school. I stood behind a Demon boy with bat-like wings. I tapped his shoulder. He turned around, his startlingly green eyes fixed on me.
" Hey, um... What happened here?" I asked, nervous. He frowned slightly. " Someone got murdered. By a Hunter. " My breath caught in my throat. A Hunter? Here? Oh, no... The boy stood on his tippy-toes to see better. " Looks like the Hunter used Veres. That poison. I don't know the victim, though. It's a girl." I sucked in a breath of fear. Icy appeared to calm me down. "Hi, guys!" A peppy voice called out. I turned around. Cassidy had a big smile on his face. He obviously had no idea what was going on. " A Hunter killed someone today." I said grimly. " Shit." Cass muttered, the smile wiped off his face. A Weirn girl turned to us. "Hey, they're saying the killer is at this school." I gasped. Even better! Not only is there a killer on the loose, he's loose in our school!
Hunters are supernatural beings that are neither human or of the Night World. Their initial goal is to kill Night Things, such as Werewolves, Vampires, Demons, and of course, cute little Weirns like me. "I wonder where Tabai could be. She loves a good mystery. She's like Shirley Holmes." Just then, I could see the Forensics team pick up a stretcher with the dead body on it. I wanted to catch a glimpse of the poor girl whose life was unfairly taken from her. Unfortunately, I caught a good look at her. The girl had curly brown hair and pink painted nails. That girl was none other than ...
"TABAI!" I screamed. I ran to thhe stretcher and began to sob bitterly. Cassidy held me back as I tried to get my way to my best friend. My dead best friend. "Cassidy, go away! I have tosave her!" Eventually, I gave up and slumped to my knees in defeat. I was overwhelmed with a grief I never knew existed. Tabai. My best friend. DEAD. I felt people patting my back, trying to cheer me up. But to tell you the truth, nothing could make me feel better. Now that I know a Hunter killed my best friend.

Cassidy stormed into the Hunter's meeting room. There he found his clave: Teresa, Ten, and Jaq. Teacher was running some errands. That was perfect, because Cass was in the best mood to kick some tail. "Who did that?! At the school!" He demanded. Cass usually never yelled at anybody, but this was a different story. Everybody looked at him like he came in having a Glee moment. Ten gave him a confused look. "What are you talking about, Cass?" She asked.
Oh, like she didn't know! "Some girl got killed today, and it was by a Hunter!" Teresa sat back and popped her knuckles like she really didn't care. "Was it your girlfriend, Mika?" she quipped. Cassidy felt his face turn red. "No. Mika isn't my girlfriend. What's it gonna take for you to grow up?" Reese just smirked. Cass looked on Jaq. Jaq was the quiet one of the group, but he was pretty deadly. Could he have...
"Jaq." Cass said. Jaq held up his hands. "Yo. I don't kill unless I have to, okay?" Ten nodded. "Me too." Cass sighed in frustration. "Then who is the idiot that...
"That would be me." A deep voice said. Cassidy winced. He knew that voice. "And I don't appreciate being called an idiot, either, Cassidy." Teacher pointed out. Cass bowed his head, embarrased. "Yes, sir."

CHAPTER 3

"Sorry, guys." Cassidy said, feeling like a total ball-freaking idiot. He let out a big sigh."I should go..." He grabbed his coat off the rack and put it on quckly, eager to get out of there. Maybe I should check on Mika. See how she's doing. He snapped his fingers and in a flash of light, he was at Mika's front door. Cass rang the doorbell and waited. Mika's house was amazing. It was a huge penthouse with zinnias growing all around. The girl even had a freaking balcony to look out of. Soon he heard the sound of the door opening. A little girl stood timidly in the doorway. She looked like a miniature Mika: Light brown skin, Big brown eyes and short, fluffy black hair. She could'nt have been more than six years old. "Hi. I'm Cassidy O'Rourke. Mika's friend. Are you her sister?" The little girl nodded, a shy smile on her face. "Uh huh. She's in her room. Crying." Cass felt himself frown a bit. "My name is Sasha." The girl said. She outstretched her arms wide. "Pick up." She ordered. Cass smirked and swooped Sasha up in his arms. She giggled happily and hugged his neck.
"SASHA!" Mika screamed."What did I tell you about leaving the door open like that?! Bugs might get in-" She came down and prepared for ultimate noogie time. She skidded to a halt when she saw Cassidy holding her sister. Mika's face was red and her eyes were puffy. Still, she managed an Amused grin. "C'mon in. I'll make you some snacks." Cass Followed Mika into the kitchen. He set Ssha into her seat and helped Mika with the dishes. "What are you doing here?" Mika whispered to Cassidy. Cass shrugged. "I had to check on you. See how you were doing." Mika let out a choked cuckle. "Please. See how I'm doing? I literally found my best friend dead at school and a Hunter is in the shadows of it. And you want to see how I'm doing?" Cassidy winced. "Okay. Dumb idea. I got it."
Mika sniffled. "Sorry. It's not fair for me to yell at you. I just miss her so much..." Cass patted her hair. "Yeah. I miss her too. I miss her too." A loud banging noise made Cass and Mika jump up in surprise. Sasha had a little bratty scowl on her face. "I'm hungry. Let's eat."

"Something is obviously going on with him and her." Teresa pointed out to Ten and Jaq. She undid her long braid and shook it loose. Ten nodded slowly in agreement. "Yeah, when you mentioned her his face got all red and he did that thing with his lip like when he's lying" Jaq stood up and poped his knuckles."Let's hope their not dating. That would'nt e very good." Reese frowned. It would be bad. The Treaty made it so that a Hunter and a Night Thing could never be together in a romantic relationship. The Nereshai would be all over that. "Should we ask Teacher about it?" Ten asked. Teresa looked at Ten. She was so young and innocent... at times. Still, she worried about her Clave, her familly. They should tell Teacher about this. But not just yet.
"We'll wait it out. If things get crazy, then we can get Teacher. Or we'll stop it ourselves. Capisce?" Reese asked.
"Capisce!" Ten and Jaq repated.

CHAPTER 4

The next day of school was scary. Wanna know why? No one seemed to notice one the students was murdered by a hunter. I mean, hello?! A Hunter is in our school, he killed somebody, and all the people say is "I'm so sorry for you loss." My loss?! It's the whole school boards loss! As you can probably tell, I wasn't very bright-eyed and bushy tailed that morning. Cassidy texted me at lunch saying he wouldn't be there today. He said he had stuff to do. So I picked an empty bench and sat by myself. I don't really see the big deal of sitting by yourself. It's nice to not have to think of something quirky to say to your peers and feel all awkward after. Course, Tabai was with us...
"Yo." A sort of familiar voice said across from me. I looked up. It was that bat-winged boy with the startling green eyes. He gave me a little half smile and sat across from me. "Hey," He said. "Sorry about your friend. That must really suck." I shrugged modestly. "Nah. I'm good. It still hurts, But I'm fine." The boy held out his hand for me to shake. "I'm Luke." He said. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance." I took his hand and shook. He had the typical boy handshake: They have the need to shake much harder than they need to, but us girls like it anyway. Suddenly, in a puff of smoke, a geeky looking blonde girl appeared in the seat next to Luke. "What is with you always trying to run away from me?" She pouted. She turned to me and grinned, flashing her sea green braces. "Oh, I remember you!" The girl said in a chipper voice. "I know what your going through. My sisier's friend died in a car accident. It really stung." I looked at the two newcomers. What is this? Random people coming to sit with me to make me feel better. To be my friend.
"I'm Mika" I said, more than happy to meet people who cared. The girl introduced herself as Peri Locksworth. Turned out she was a Weirn as well and Icy and her Astral hit it off immediatley. BUZZ! BUZZ! I grabbed my phone off the table and saw Cassidy's smiling face and his screen name.
Cassie4.0 says: Hey! How R U doing without me?
Mikey256 says: Fine. I met some people way better than you, anyways! )
Cassie4.0 says: Ouch. Oh, shoot. Gotta go. Bye! I love you!
Mikey256 says: Awww! :3 Luv U 2!
I put my phone back in my pocket and continued to speak with my new friends. Yep. I don't mourn for long. Does that make me awful?

Did I really tell her I love her? Cassidy thought, surprised at himself. He checked his phone. Yep. He did. It was weird, It felt like to Cassidy that he meant it. Mika said it back, but Cass actually spelled it out correctly. What did this mean? "Whatcha doin?" Ten startled Cass, making him drop his phone. In a lightning flash, Ten grabbed it and leaped to the other side of the room. "Hey!" Cass yelled. "Give it back!" Ten, of course, did not give it back, in fact, she started to scroll through his messages. "Oh, my God. You love Mika?!" She exclaimed. Cass rolled his eyes. "Yes, Ten. The same way I love you, Teresa, Jaq and even Teacher." Ten narrowed her big brown eyes. Sheesh. It felt like everybody was on his tail. Ten tossed him his phone back. "Be careful, Cassidy. Be careful."
Cassidy frowned. What was she talking about? He was always careful. He knew what he should and shouldn't do. But if he did, why was he friends with a Weirn? And what's more, why was he falling in love with her?

CHAPTER 5

Teresa never thought of herself as a "good girl." She was more like the kind of person who would put you in a half nelson if you gave her any type of criticism at all. Maybe that was why she became a Hunter. Hunters need someone who can kick some serious tail in a dire situation. Take right now for instance. Mika dragged Teresa to the ice cream shoppe to have some "Girl Time." Ugh. Mika was pretty cool, but to tell the truth, she was more annoying than an itchy swaeater your grandmother made.
"Why are we here, again, Mika? You wanted to talk to me about something?" Teresa asked, pretending to be concerned. Really, she didn't give a rat's tush. Mika looked nervous. It semmed like she wanted to say it, but it just would'nt come out. Finally, she said, "It's kind of about Cassidy." She said. "I think he might be in love with me."
If there''s anything that can throw Teresa off into a frenzy, this was totally it. "What." She said through her teeth. She could feel her face getting hot with what felt like anger, but she couldn't be sure. Teresa let out a long breath. "Ah... why do you think so?" Mika shrugged. "I dunno. It just seems that he might... well..." She plopped her head in her hands. "Sorry." She said. "I don't know what I was thinking. I guess it's just with Tabai's death... it's taking a toll on me."
Excuses, excuses. Mika really got on Teresa's nerves. Oh, my best friend got killed by a Hunter. But that's okay because I'm a cutie with a bubble butt and I can get whoever I waaaant! Ohhhh! Give Reese a break. "Look." Reese said, trying not to reach over and strangle Mika. "I'm sorry your friend died and all. I really am" No she wasn't. "But I really don't think Cassidy is in love with you. He does'nt like anyone. Especially not you." Mika gave Reese an "Oh, no you didn't look." Reese didn't care. She could snap this chick like a twig. Mika didn't know who she was messing with.
"Check, please." Reese said casually.

PROLOUGE

Whatever you do, you have to promise me that no one else reads this. Seriously. My life depends on it. I shouldn't even be telling you this tale, but you need know. The events in this story are totally true. They follow the adventures oaf me and a bunch of mutant kids. I am Mika. I am the victim. But I am also the champion. Here is my story.

CHAPTER 1

"Hey, do you think you passed that final in Mr. Ross' class?" Liz asked me nervously, for she knew she had failed. I shrugged. "Possibly." I said. I was pretty sure of myself when it came to reading. I loved to read. It's like breathing to me, except with your eyes. We were walking to Liz's house after school. She always dragged me there. She was a good kid, but sometimes she can be a bit...much. Finally we reached her California beach home. She thanked me and I was on my way to my own home. I never really was afraid when I walked home, but today, something was different.
The air seemed really cold for early Summer. I hugged myself to keep warm. The wind whistled through the trees, an eerie sound came through them. Creepy. I began to speed up my walk, getting a little scared. Then I got this weird feeling that I was being watched. Really closely. "Who's There?" I called out. I looked around me, hoping I wasn't going crazy. There was no response, so maybe it was just me. Maybe. I kept walking until I got home. I let out a breath of relief when I got to the front door. I entered my house, thrilled to no longer be in the creepy outdoors. I stopped by the kitchen to make myself a snack. The house seemed strangely quiet. Normally, I would have to put in my music to drown out the noise. Now, all was silent.
Except the T.V. in the family room. That was no big surprise. Dad always left the T.V. on when he left for work. But where was Mom? And my brother, Dave? I decided that they went to the store and left it at that. Snack in my hand, I made my way to my room upstairs. Something was definatly up. I could hear a little thumping noise then a crash from inside. By now, I was a little more than frightened. Myfirst thought was to run, but being me, I swung the door open.
I guess I crashed a little party. As soon as I opened the door, I saw what looked like male models in my bedroom. On a good day, I would have been thriled. But this wasn't a good day. "Who the hell are you?!" I shrieked, dropping the snackout onto the floor. "Get out of my room!" Instead of skedaddling, one of the men stood up and gave me a once over. "Well hello, there." The creep purred. His equally creepy buddies began to snigger wickedly. "I've been looking for you." I stepped back, fear taking over my body. Soon, Creep and Co. began to come after me.
And that of course, is when I ran. I bolted down the stairs and out the door. What is this? Why...? I could hear the main creep barking orders to his crew. I prayed to every God I knew that he wouldn't tell them to split up. I ran into the woods, where the trees were thick and it was dark. I reached a little spot where I was alone. I frantically grabbed my phone and dialed my Mom. No signal. I tried 911. No one would answer. I began to cry. God why? WHY?!
"Aw, you poor thing." The guy said, standing over me, an evil smile on his face. I tried to move away but another one had blocked my path. I was surrounded. Surrounded by these creeps. "Now we can do this the easy way, or the hard way." The man said calmly. I spat on his shoes. "Piece of shit!" I cursed. The man sighed and looked around at his friends. "Okay, then." Then the impossible occured. The men began to... change into...wolf men? Hairy snouts, yellow fangs, the whole package. One grabbed my arm and twisted it behind my back. I screamed in pain and fear. "What do you want with me?!"
The man wolf-dude laughed and kicked me harshly. I coughed, feeling like crap. "You, Mika, are very important to us. Trust me." Then someone thumped my head and everything went black.

Who Am I , Really?

I really think I was reincarnated. I see these weird visions in my head and...jeez... How can I like sushi??? If you share my experience, tell me about it.

Soooo... Nevermore came out August 6th and I read it as soon as it came out! I really loved it. It was really sad, though. I can't tell if the rest of the flock survived or not! I hated when Ella got with Iggy. You don't unerstand how that tragedy made me feel. You really don't...
Anyway! What did you guys think? This is my first blog post so excuse me if  I mess something up! Peace.
